MEET MATT

What’s your name?
I’m Matt, can’t decide if I prefer Matt or Mat right now, which is causing me a lot of confusion.

Where do you live?
I live in Rugby in England, the birthplace of rugby union!

When did you join Lockerz?
I’m not sure of the exact date, but it was around October, when my friend told me all about it and I asked him for an invite.

How many PTZ do you have?
619  and counting!

What band would you most want to see live?
Well, I think I’ve pretty much seen every band I’ve wanted to see live, so in that sense I’ve been very fortunate. I’ve been to see Muse and Coldplay both at Wembley Stadium, and both were amazing. I’ve seen around 30 gigs, and other acts I loved were Delphic, Jay-Z, Radiohead and Julian Casablancas. I suppose out of everyone else Gorillaz will be pretty cool, Damon Albarn’s a genius.

Who is your style icon?
Style icon I’m not too sure about, but my favourite brands of clothes are Hollister and SoulCal.

What are the most-listened to songs on your playlist?
Exogenesis by Muse, Stylo by Gorillaz, Acolyte by Delphic, Spanish Sahara by Foals and Juicebox by The Strokes.

What’s your favorite Dailies question and how did you answer?
“What is the funniest movie you have ever watched?” to which I replied The Hangover.

What is your favorite video on PLAY?
I love the Prom Queen ones, pretty edgy.

If you could donate to any charity, what would it be?
Water Aid –  its pretty tragic to know we have water on tap and a billion people don’t have anything like that.

Are you in college? If so, what are you studying?
I am about to go to university in Sheffield to study Economics.

What inspires you?
Every day things really, nothing too out there, but I love to watch the sun rise and sun set — gives you a sense of enormity you don’t really get from anything else.

Where do you live?
Born and raised in Hawai’i, but currently in Oregon for school.

How old are you?
Eighteen.

When did you join Lockerz?
Late October, 2009.

How many PTZ do you have?
850–but growing on a daily basis!

What are three things you’d say to describe yourself?
Of all forms of long-distance communication, I enjoy writing the most. I’m almost constantly plugged into my music. I’m a swimmer, so I’ll probably spend the rest of my life smelling at least a little like chlorine.

What are you studying in college?
I’m undeclared as of now, but I’m only a freshman so I keep telling myself I have time.

What are the most-listened to songs on your playlist?
Affinity by Red Car Wire, Easy to Fall in Love by Brighten, and She Doesn’t Get It by The Format. But my tastes are always changing.

Who is your style icon?
I don’t really have one in particular, though I’ve a big fan of Christian Siriano’s work ever since seeing him on Project Runway. I also love pretty much everything I see on Gossip Girl.

What’s your favorite Daily Question and how did you answer?
“Which should would you want to guest star on?” I put “GLEE!” — although I can’t sing so I don’t know how well that’d go over….

What is your favorite video on PLAY?
Right now, the Lady Gaga and Beyonce Telephone Parody by Key of Awesome. Checked out their youtube–their videos are legit!

Anthony wants to get a new tattoo. Any ideas?
My best friend recently got a tattoo of her birthday in Roman numerals that I thought was pretty cool.

If you could donate to any charity, what would it be?
The American Red Cross.

What is your favorite book?
Can I say Facebook? Haha jk, I’m actually a sucker for most anything by Nicholas Sparks. And the Harry Potter series.

How many PTZ do you have?

Currently I have 1,124. I spent 625 PTZ on a PS3 back in October.

What do you do as part of L.A.B.?

I watch over the Lockerz’ Facebook page and help answer questions people have regarding prizes, redemption, and anything else related to the website and I report those who are acting inappropriately or offensively to other members.  I also contribute ideas to our two LAB leaders to help make the website even better.

What are three things you’d say to describe yourself?

I’m rather obsessed with the TV show Skins (mainly the first two seasons). Impulse buying is my worst habit. I have been doing web and graphic design for ten years now.

What inspires you?

Mainly a line or two from a song, book, or movie. My friends and family also inspire me.

What are the most-listened to songs on your playlist?

My #1 most played song is “The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows” by Brand New, but I love all of Brand New’s music.  “Yesterday” by the Beatles, “Seaside” by the Kooks, and basically everything by All Time Low are my most-listened to songs.

What’s your favorite Daily Question and how did you answer?

My favorite Daily Question has been “Are you a gleek?”  That’s because I’m in love with Glee and their soundtrack is another one of my most played bands/artists.  So of course I answered,  “Yes, I am a gleek!”

What is your favorite movie of all time?

Moulin Rouge.  I’m a sucker for Ewan McGregor.

What place in the world would you most like to visit?

I’d like to visit either Greece or Spain.

If you could donate to any charity, what would it be?

Currently the Red Cross so the money goes to Haiti. I think at the moment they’re in need of the most help.

What is your favorite book?

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. If you have never read it, you should.

What are three things you’d say to describe yourself?

I definitely couldn’t live without music. I can’t be happy without traveling every now and then, better if alone. My boyfriend is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

What band would you most want to see live?

I’m looking forward to seeing A Day To Remember. I hope they will come to Spain someday.

What inspires you?

Sunny days, songs with deep meanings, long walks along the beach….

What are the most-listened to songs on your playlist?

Lately I’ve been listening a lot to City and Colour (Dallas Green is amazing.) but the most-listened ever might be Horizons by Parkway Drive (the whole album is perfect) and Confined by As I Lay Dying.

What’s your favorite Daily Question and how did you answer?

“What’s your favourite movie quote?” I really liked that one. I chose “Love means never having to say you’re sorry” from Love Story. I’m way too romantic….

What is your favorite video on PLAY?

I discovered Faded Cadence here on Lockerz, and I have to say that I fell in love. I also like a the new one, Nite Fite.

What is your favorite book?

I’m a bookaholic kind of person. I read almost everything that comes to my hands, so I can’t pick only one, but I’m addicted to Stieg Larsson’s “Millenium” series.

What are three things you’d say to describe yourself?

I’m a full-time graphic design student. I’m a part-time musician. I get OCD about my iTunes library. (Hi-Res album art, proper title capitalization, etc.)

Are you more excited about the Olympics or the Academy Awards?

The Academy Awards. Although I’m a little disappointed that some of my favorite movies were left off the list of nominees. *Cough* (500) Days of Summer.

What are the most-listened to songs on your playlist?

I’m more of an entire album kind of guy. These days I’m really digging the new Toro y Moi and Vampire Weekend records.

What’s your favorite Daily Question and how did you answer?

“What should Conan do next?” I’d like to see him start a new show on an Internet television network — I think it’d be a great push in the right direction to legitimize commercially produced, online-only content.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

It’s nothing groundbreaking, but my favorite movie would have to be Stranger than Fiction. I’m a big fan of comedians playing serious roles and always enjoy an interesting take on a love story.

What place in the world would you most like to visit?

I’m hoping to visit Japan sometime soon. I’ve been fascinated by the country’s history and culture for as long as I can remember.

What are three things you’d say to describe yourself?

I have my bookshelf organized by color. I dance whenever I think nobody’s looking. I love the city and would not be able to live anywhere without a diversity of people and things to do.

Are you more excited about the Olympics or the Academy Awards?

Though I prefer winter sports to summer, I am ALWAYS super excited for the Academy Awards. I’m really interested in film production, so I’m always excited to see the awards for even the smaller, less popular categories.

What inspires you?

Who is your style icon?

Ellen Page always manages to look casual as well as cute. If I was more ambitious I’d say Marie Antoinette…unfortunately I don’t have an entire Revolution to spend doing my hair.

What are the most-listened to songs on your playlist?

Recently I’ve been listening to Deadbeat Summer by Neon Indian and My Maudlin Career by Camera Obscura on repeat. Overall, I think most most-listened song is Emanuela, a song by the German rap group Fettes Brot.

What’s your favorite Daily Question and how did you answer?

“Hippie or Hipster?” That question made me laugh out loud. I think I picked “Hippie” because I had just seen Hair on Broadway.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

It’s a tie between Fritz Lang’s M and The Lion King.

What place in the world would you most like to visit?

I’d love to tour India!

If you could donate to any charity, what would it be?

Amnesty International.

The Pillowman by Martin McDonough. It’s actually a play. but….

Which living person do you most admire?

Lynda Barry. She’s a comic artist who often does autobiographical work, and the stories she tells about her life and growing up are incredible.

Curious, artistic, and open-minded.

I don’t know that I have one. My “style” seems to change a lot. But I love the look of vintage pin-ups, and I love how effortlessly beautiful Jennifer Aniston is.

What inspires you?

Passionate people.

Lighten Up Francis (JLE dub mix)by Puscifer, Taiyed by 311, Move by Damien Marley.

“What are your favorite lyrics?” I answered with my favorite song — 3 Libras by A Perfect Circle.

Both! Depending on where I am and what I’m doing.

What place in the world would you most like to visit?

Anywhere where I can feel the hot sun on my skin year round, and see beautiful beach in every direction.

Maynard James Keenan. And of course, my mumma.

If you could donate to any charity, what would it be?

Any foundation helping to save music and art programs in schools. When the budget drops in public schools, those classes are always the first to go. I think they are more than extracurricular — and so important for self-expression.

I joined back in like September, I think? I forget exactly when it was.

I currently have 262 PTZ.

What are three things you’d say to describe yourself?

I’ve cut up literally every t-shirt that I own. I make awesome bracelets. I’m borderline obsessed with VersaEmerge.

Are you more excited about the Olympics or the Academy Awards?

I’m gonna have to go with the Olympics.

What inspires you?

Great weather, good music, a good bike ride, a good book, something interesting written on the sidewalk, etc.

Who is your style icon?

Sierra Kusterbeck. She’s one of the reasons I started cutting up my shirts again.

What are the most-listened to songs on your playlist?

The #1 most played is The Authors by VersaEmerge. If you haven’t heard it, you NEED to go check it out. Eye Alaska and Paramore (specifically their new album, Brand New Eyes) are up there too, and Jonny Craig is a new musical obsession of mine as well.

I’d love to go to Italy and Spain.

I love Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and all of L. Frank Baum’s Wizard of Oz books.

What do you do at Lockerz?

I work with the Marketing Team to help with fulfillment and PTZ Place. My official job title is “The Doer.” I do things that need to be done.

What are three things you’d say to describe yourself?

I read books. I’m happy that I don’t quite belong. I try to help people.

What is your favorite thing about winter?

The first three breaths of fresh air when you step outside in the cold.  Anything after that, it just gets cold.

What inspires you?

Literature. People who write honestly about their own circumstance.

E-mail or texting?

E-mail. I try to stay away from cell phones.

What are the most-listened to songs on your playlist?

Kiss the Bottle by Lucero (the Jawbreaker cover). Lungs by Townes Van Zandt. Downtown Train by Tom Waits. It’s Hard to Know by Hot Water Music.

What’s your favorite Daily Question and how did you answer?

“Who was your childhood crush?” Michelle Trachtenberg. As a kid she played this character Nona on a show, “Pete and Pete”.  I was the same age as her and I had great taste.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

The Motorcycle Diaries (but these things constantly change).

What place in the world would you most like to visit?

Afghanistan, Iran or Iceland. There is a lot of history in those areas along with a completely different setting/style.

If you could donate to any charity, what would it be?

A Child Unheard in Uganda. Philanthropy is a great thing — as long as you realize that there is always more to be done.
